SUPREME DENTAL

SUPREME DENTALSUPREME DENTAL

Dental Implants

Additional Information

Dental implants are made of surgical grade titanium posts that is placed in your jawbone to hold realistic-looking restorations after you lose one or more of your natural teeth.  At Supreme Dental, Dr. Mason conducts consultations for dental implants and places the implants with a series of surgeries and healing periods.

Titanium, the type of metal in a dental implant, is the best material for the job because of its biocompatibility. Titanium is also in artificial joints, like knee and hip replacements.  The properties of Titanium allow the human bone to actually integrate into the metals surface, in a process called osseointegration. Thanks to osseointegration, your implants act as incredibly stable roots for your restorations. You can use your restorations just as you would your normal teeth.

Like many modern medical and dental technologies, Dental Implants have been dramatically improved over the last few decades. From the physical design to the surface, these dental implants are more predictable than ever.

Supreme Dental of Las Vegas utilizes these advancements along with 3D Cone-beam scan technology, and sophisticated surgical planning software to create an optimal patient experience.

What is the dental implant surgery process?

During your initial consultation, a 3-D cone beam x-ray is taken to determine the position and bone quality in preparation for the implant. Along with the information from the scan, Dr. Mason uses sophisticated surgical planning software to prepare for a safe surgery with optimal results.

The first of two surgeries involve an incision in your gums over the area where the intended implant position.  Dr. Mason removes any remaining part of the original tooth, or its root as needed. As long as there is no bone loss in the area, we can place the implant safely and securely before closing the incision to let it heal.

Two months later, an incision is needed to uncover the implant and an attachment component called a healing abutment is connected to the implant. The gum tissue will then heal around the abutment as your restoration will attach to the abutment.

One weeks later, the healing abutment is removed, and an impression of the implant site is taken and will take about two and a half weeks for dental implant crown to be delivered.

Why Choose an Implant Over a Dental Bridge?

Many people prefer dental implants over traditional dental bridges for several reasons. Traditional bridges rely on healthy nearby teeth for support, while dental implants support restorations on their own. A few specific advantages that dental implants have over bridges are:

  • Protecting your jawbone from resorption
  • Preventing tooth migration and new malocclusion
  • Avoiding damage and enamel loss to healthy teeth
  • Less need for future maintenance or restoration replacements
  • More stability

Of course, you should discuss the benefits and drawbacks of both treatments during your initial consultation. Each case is different, and you might prefer a bridge over a dental implant because it doesn’t involve oral surgery.  We will answer all of your questions about each of your options for treatment.

Dental implants can restore your speaking and chewing abilities from before you lost one or more teeth. To find out if dental implants are the right option for your treatment, call Supreme Dental, or book an appointment online today.
